Mission
Meet the most pressing water purification challenges that impact human health and national defense with fit-for-purpose solutions.
Vision
Lead the development of water purification and sensing technologies that deliver clean water under the most challenging circumstances and enable recovery of valuable resources.
Our Purpose
Our core purpose is to develop electrochemical technologies that tackle water purification challenges with outsized impacts on human health and national defense.
Focus Areas:
- Safe Rural Water
- Critical Care
- Food Safety Tech
- Extreme Conditions
- Combat Hydration
- Rare Earth Recovery
These thrusts address water purification and monitoring needs that traditional technologies cannot meet. They require fit-for-purpose solutions designed for settings that are remote, extreme, resource-limited, mobile, or at-home – where point-of-need (PON) or portable solutions are most effective. In some cases, the need extends beyond removal to recovery, selective separation, enrichment, or sensing of particulate or chemical compounds of interest.
Our approach brings together experts in socioeconomics, materials, computation and AI, statistics, electrochemistry, sensors, food safety and analysis, manufacturing, water quality and watersheds, community engagement, education, outreach, and entrepreneurship.
Our objectives are to:
- Spark collaboration and transdisciplinary research to create use-inspired water purification solutions that address critical needs in human health and national defense.
- Catalyze ambitious ideas and the teams to make them real – creating the foundation, connections, and resources needed to secure major funding for breakthrough water technologies.
- Deploy technologies that deliver immediate benefits to stakeholders – from individual households to farms, and from the battlefield to outer space.
