Jonathan Claussen
Mechanical Engineering
Assistant Professor
Dr. Claussen’s research aligns closely with the center’s focus on innovative sensing technologies, as he has worked extensively on developing electrochemical sensors for monitoring water contaminants, including fertilizers (such as nitrate and nitrite), pesticides (such as glyphosate, organophosphates, and neonicotinoids), and pathogens (such as E. coli and Salmonella). Hence his research in these areas directly supports the development of portable, point-of-need sensing technologies, which is a key goal of the HYDRO Center.
