Dr. Ikuma is a lead PI on a large, national-scope EPA grant that aims to lower barriers to innovative water solutions for small communities to provide safe water for all. She also has extensive experience with water treatment and disinfection, especially focused on microbial outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Ikuma is currently working on developing effective bioleaching methods to recover REEs from waste streams.
